Movement, energy, color, organic shapes - all are equally important whether painting, drawing, printing or making books. The images are abstract and process driven with influences coming from many sources. The undercurrent of late leans toward environmental concerns. I find the monotype process particularly suited to working in the immediate and inspiring a series of images. The prints make connections with each other and present a story. It is through working that the how and why of a project comes to light. Something pushes its way to the surface to reveal the catalyst behind the image: elements of memory, a line from a poem, contemporary issues, communications or lack thereof. When printing, I use an etching press and transfer the image to paper from plexiglass plates. I use oil based inks and prefer Rives rag papers.
