My images are nature inspired and reflect my Japanese American heritage. I select my subject, colors, and composition with a “less is more” mindset. I draw from nature as metaphors for the human condition - a stand of trees, for example, inspires me by its strong, defiant will to survive in the face of adversity, swaying grasses remind me to be flexible, when necessary, autumn leaves suggest to me the brilliance of life before an inevitable winter. The recent photo polymer etchings are reflections on my journey as an artist.
